Residential speed limits may be lowered The province is consulting with municipalities to discuss lowering speeds in Ontario cities and towns from 50km/h Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca says it will mean increased safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.

SCDSB SCHOOLS GET $62K IN SPEAKUP FUNDING

Simcoe County schools are receiving over $62,000 to SpeakUp. The funds will be spread across 64 student-led projects. SpeakUp projects give students a chance to take a hands-on approach to making their school a better place.

CCAC EMPLOYEES HIT THE PICKET LINE

CCAC nurses and health care professionals across the province are hitting the picket lines today (Fri Jan 30), including in Simcoe County. The Ontario Nurses' Association announced this morning that its members voted in favour of a strike last night.

LANDOWNER CHARGED FOR ILLEGAL DUMPING

A New Tecumseth land owner has been fined $1,880 after pleading guilty to violating the Town's Fill and Site Alteration bylaw. The Town says the owner was caught having fill dumped on private property last year without permission.

South Simcoe Police say 11 year-old Gavin Howes has been found safe and sound. He went missing from W.H. Day Elementary School on Maplegrove Avenue in Bradford earlier this afternoon.

CHILD MISSING IN BRADFORD

South Simcoe Police are searching for a missing 11 year-old. Gavin Howes went missing from W.H. Day Elementary School on Maplegrove Avenue in Bradford. He's reported to have left the school around 2:20pm. He's described as male, white, 5'8" with a medium build and brown hair.

CARE COORDINATORS COULD BE HITTING THE PICKET LINE FRIDAY

Care Coordinators who work in 10 Community Care Access Centres across the province may hit the picket lines tomorrow (Jan. 30). The Ontario Nurses Association, which represents these workers, recommends that members reject the employers' latest offer in a strike vote tonight (Jan. 29).
