Scotiabank will reimburse stolen money from an Alliston woman's bank account. The Alliston Herald is reporting that thieves stole the woman's card last month and withdrew $2,300.

INNISFIL MAN FACES WEAPONS CHARGES

A 26 year-old Innisfil man is facing a slew of weapons charges after a fight at an Alcona apartment. South Simcoe Police say they were called to the apartment Sunday evening (Dec 16) and could smell pepper spray in the hallway. The suspect fled before police arrived.

Barrie and District Christmas Cheer is over halfway to reaching its monetary goal. So far $140,000 of the $235,000 goal has been raised. Toy and monetary donations can be dropped off at stores in Angus and Innisfil.

ESSA COUNCIL TAKES ANOTHER SHOT AT PROVINCIAL FUNDING FOR ANGUS TORNADO

Essa Council has sent a letter to the Provincial Government asking that it reconsider its decision not to provide relief funding for the June tornado. In October the Town was denied Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP) funding by the Minister of Municipal Affairs Ted McMeekin.

DRIVER CHARGED AFTER VEHICLE COLLIDES WITH TRAIN NEAR BEETON

A 65 year-old driver, who suffered minor injuries when his vehicle collided with a train on Tottenham Road Wednesday (Dec 17), has been charged. The New Tecumseth man is charged with disobeying a railway crossing. The collision happened at the crossing near the 9th Line at around 10:30 a.m..

FLU CASES SHOWING UP LOCALLY

The number of flu cases in Simcoe-Muskoka is on the rise. But the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit says it's not nearly as alarming as some surrounding regions. Sixteen cases of the flu have been reported locally so far this year, compared to 49 in York Region and 110 in Toronto. Dr.

A charge has been laid against a driver that escaped with minor injuries after his vehicle crashed into a train this morning (Wed Dec 17) on Tottenham Road. It happened at around 10:30 a.m. at the rail crossing near the 9th Line.

INNISFIL LEASING PUBLIC LAKE ACCESS POINT

The Town of Innisfil is leasing a public Lake Simcoe access point to Lake Simcoe Marine for boat storage. Council authorized the lease agreement on Wednesday (Dec. 10) for the 30 by 200-foot road allowance on Evans Place.
