It's Alliston versus Schomberg in the GBMOJCHL Championship. The Hornets defeated the Orillia Terriers 5-0 in game five Friday night. The Cougars are 8 and 2 in playoffs, while the Hornets are 8 and 1 - their one loss being in a double overtime Monday night.

Simcoe-Grey MP Dr. Kelly Leitch represented the feds at Friday's meeting dealing with missing and murdered Aboriginal women. Premier Kathleen Wynne wishes Prime Minister Harper would have attended, but she is pleased he sent two representatives.

TWO OFFICERS ASSAULTED IN GILFORD

He took on his Pop, and then he hit a cop. South Simcoe Police were called after a man had assaulted his father during an argument over a cell phone bill. When police arrived they went to arrest the man, who pretended to comply, then cold clocked the cop.

The month of February is coming to a close and not a moment too soon. Temperatures averaged about 10 degrees below seasonal normals. Peter Kimbell from Enviroment Canada says it might not be a record setter... It might be a record smasher.

INNISFIL WINS AGAIN WITH THE OLG

The Town of Innisfil is cashing in at the track again. Innisfil collected over $5 million from hosting the OLG Slots at Georgian Downs. Mayor Gord Wauchope says the town is thankful for the opportunity to partner with OLG and that the cash has been put to good use.

Another extreme cold warning has been issued for New Tecumseth, Angus and Innisfil. Environment Canada is blaming yet another frigid arctic airmass combined with light to moderate winds and add it should stick around until tomorrow (feb 28) morning.

PAN AM TORCH BURNS THROUGH REGION

The Pan-AM torch is coming to Simcoe County. From May 30th through to July 10th the Pan Am Torch will make it's way across Ontario and Alliston, Beeton, and CFB Borden are all on the route! The flame will be carried through CFB Borden on June 11th and through Alliston and Beeton on the 12th.
